The Hub350, Canada’s largest tech park, will soon be the home of a global technology centre developed by Kanata North Business Association (KNBA). The opening is projected to happen later in 2021. COVID-19 has created a lot of changes in the world and Hub350 was made to adjust to the new normal. It is essentially a gathering area for the communities of Canadian tech companies, academia, and finance.
What is the Hub350?
The Hub350 tech park is a recreational and living area for the technology workforce. Its sole purpose is to provide a safe haven for high intellectual people to learn together and play together. It sits about 20 minutes away from the downtown area of Ottawa and provides a plethora of opportunities to the tech community.
The three areas that the Hub350 stands by is the private sector, finance, and academia in order to establish a world-class tech community. The tech industry is booming right now it is reported that the Discover Technata job board, the largest tech job board, has over 10,000 available positions posted. What’s more, there are also hundreds of exclusive jobs offered in the park by member companies.
The Making of KNBA’s Global Tech Centre
As the Hub350 continues to grow as a community, it is important that it has access to proper funding and resources. The new global tech centre will function as a place where companies can collaborate together to generate more funding, research, and new talent to bring to the community. Not only that but the centre itself will serve as an additional space to form a physical community in the park.
The tech park will not be open until the summer due to COVID-19 restrictions in the Ontario province. However, the park will still incorporate the necessary precautions needed to maintain a safe environment for its community members. KNBA prides its centre as the soon-to-be new access point to Canada’s iconic technology park. It is described as the intersection between nature and technology, according to the president and executive of KNBA, Jamie Petten. The Ottawa region is aiming to have the reputation of a top leading tech capital and KNBA has made it its duty to achieve that goal.
What is in Store for the New Global Tech Centre?
While the technology park has a long way to go, the new centre is laying out the foundation that it needs to build up from. It is in the City of Ottawa’s plans to support the city’s technological development over the next 25 years. This goes for the overall future of the city as well as the legacy of the technology park. KNBA believes that it is a smart move to combine the resources of post-secondary institutions and corporate partners into one central location.
