Canada is Reporting Extreme Winter Conditions in Eight Provinces

Across Canada, winter is becoming a major issue of concern with an increase in the regions that will be experiencing freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and strong winter winds. These are reports that have been published by the weather department warning that the current conditions are likely to persist for the next seven days, which is something that most people were not expecting. Everyone hoped that the extreme weather conditions would change in a matter of days and that everything will resume.

However, there seems to be an increase in the days that the country has been experiencing extreme winter conditions in the last few years. Every year, just like any other country in the northern hemisphere, Canada gets harsh winter conditions, and it has to look for some innovative ways of mitigating extreme weather conditions. It has never been more comfortable during the three to four months of winter conditions, but most of the people have already been used to the situation because they were brought up here.

Closing Schools in Affected Regions

Most of the schools in some of the regions that have been severely affected have already closed their operations. It is obvious that it will be difficult for the buses to ferry kids from their respective homes in such conditions. In some eight provinces, the education department has concluded that it is necessary to allow kids to remain at home for several days and wait for the current extreme weather conditions to change before resuming back their learning operations.

Higher education facilities, which include colleges and universities, in the affected areas have also moved to online learning. Having virtual classes will help them to cover the lost days and hours that they would have otherwise been undertaking their studies as normal. Virtual learning has also become a common practice in most higher education institutions, especially during pandemics, which means that such institutions did not need time to adjust to their new system of learning.

Winter and Changing Climate

As extreme weather continues to grasp the country, the department of weather, together with other experts, has already indicated that the worsening winter situation can be associated with the changing climate around the world. In this case, every climatic condition or weather that is affecting a specific region seems to go beyond what most people have been expecting, which is a classic example of changing climatic conditions around the world.
