Daiya food incorporation

It’s a food company based in Burnaby, British Columbia. Andre Kroecher and Greg Blake established the entity in 2008. The two co-founders are friends for a long time and shared a similar passion for creating music, and plant-based living, thus inspiring the innovation of providing plant-made cheese. Paul Wang, a food scientist, was involved in refining the formulation and scaling up. The parent company for Daiya foods is Otsuka pharmaceuticals.

Recently, the company revenues have increased to $60.3M per year while revenue per employee is $270,000. The company has 164 employees. Among their competitors include Oppy, JD Sweid foods, Left coast naturals, and sun-rich fresh foods. Additionally, the company has won various awards for its outstanding work in food alternatives. In 2010, they won the best vegan cheese award and in 2012 won the best processor award for British Columbia.

Dairy alternatives

Today the portfolio of enjoying sumptuous food is presented to everyone – vegan, flexitarian, and vegetarian. The food alternatives by Daiya were introduced in California in 2009 during the Natural Products Expo creating an instant success for the company. The products are available in many restaurants in Canada, There’s exportation to many counties like Australia, Mexico, Hongkong, and Britain.

The dairy alternatives are free from common allergens, including; gluten, tree nuts, except for coconut, lactose, casein, and soy. The food alternatives contain 0g of trans fat and cholesterol and 90 calories in every serving, making it a healthy recipe for many consumers. The regular delicious choices include; slices, shreds, vegetable crust pizza, dessert bars, blocks, cream cheese, and dairy-free dressings. Most Daiya foods come from plants like cassava and arrowroots. There are no animal products.
