Covid Cases in Canada Are Rising
The chief public health officer in Canada stated that she is concerned about the rise in Covid cases. The average daily number of people being diagnosed with Covid was 545 last week. That is a 25 percent increase from the previous week.
Theresa Tam, who is Canada’s chief public officer, stated that the rise in Covid cases shows that it is important to still practice the public health measures. She also stated that people have to be even more cautious as they enter into the fall. More people will be indoors, which can cause Covid to spread.
Many people also plan on having family gatherings for the holidays. However, professionals have stated that this may not be a good option for everybody. She stated that people need to assess their own personal risk and the risk of their family members. Theresa warned people last week that school and business openings could lead to a Covid spike if the proper safety precautions are not taken.
What People Can Do in Order to Slow Down the Spread of Covid
Theresa urges anyone who has symptoms of Covid to get tested. She stated that even if you mild symptoms, you will still need to get tested. Last week, 3,955 people in Canada tested positive for Covid. There were also 28 deaths. There were 3,044 positive tests and 44 deaths during the previous week.
There are currently 132,136 confirmed cases of Covid in Canada and 9,146 deaths. Theresa stated that 88.2 percent of the people who have been diagnosed with Covid have recovered from it. She recommends that people should assess the safety precautions that are being taken before they go to any event.
She also stated that people should only go to events that allow people to wear masks and have plenty of room for social distancing. She said that wearing masks and social distancing will provide you with a layer of protection. She also stated that those measures help keep everyone safe and support the frontline workers.
Is Covid Out of Control in Canada?
Theresa stated that even though the number of Covid cases is rising, there pandemic is still under control. Over 46,000 people in Canada are tested each week. Only 0.9 percent of the people who are tested are positive for Covid 19. Most of the Canadians have been following public health recommendations.
They have been able to carefully return to their normal activities. It has also been able to preserve its economic wellbeing. However, the steady rise in cases is something that everyone should be concerned about.
