Many everyday consumer products in the United States are made by Canadian companies. Some of these companies have been in the news lately.
Michelin Tires
Michelin North America Inc. has its largest factories in the Nova Scotia cities Waterville, Bridgewater and Pictou County. It’s one of the most reliable tire companies in the world. Its first factory in Canada was opened in 1971. It’s produced over 230 million tires since then.
Chairman and President Alexis Garcin of Michelin said on Dec. 10 that it’s basing people, profit and the planet at the core of everything it does. He considers these three things as inseparable in the company’s sustainability strategy. Michelin is looking to contribute to the growth of humanity by offering safe and sustainable mobility.
When the COVID-19 pandemic started, Michelin implemented health and safety measures at its factories. No employees have been infected while at work. In April, it started manufacturing face masks. After fulfilling its own need for the masks, over one million of them were donated to hospitals and first responders.
Canada Goose
This company is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1957, it sells winter clothing such as parkas, jackets, gloves and hats. You can find their products in their own retail stores and other locations.
Canada Goose recently teamed up with The Webster to put together a VR experience. Viewers take a tour through Southern California that shows how their jackets are suitable for different climates. The tour is available on The Webster website and you can explore Joshua Tree, the Santa Monica Pier, Big Bear and the Hollywood Sign.
CMO Penny Brook said the goal is to combine storytelling with marketing to show how Canada Goose clothing can be worn in widely different climates. The clothing in the VR experience is only being sold on The Webster’s website.
Molson Coors
Molson Coors was established in Montreal in 1786. Its original location in Montreal is the oldest brewery in North America. Originally named Molson Brewery, it became Molson Coors in 2005 after merging with the Adolph Coors Company. Its beers can be found at many retailers in Canada and the United States.
On Dec. 9, Molson Coors announced a new mascot for the holidays. It’s named Beerman and is being used for the Coors Light brand. Beerman has the superpower of refreshing people with a Coors Light. In the first ad, he performs Boston’s “More than a Feeling” rock anthem.
Molson Coors launched the Beerman ad campaign on TV, social media and other digital locations. There will be a Beerman can design later in December at select locations, such as MiniBar in New York City. They’ve also partnered with actor Adam Devine to encourage people to build and share their own Beerman using whatever materials are on hand.
