Many businesses have been struggling to stay afloat because of the pandemic. Some businesses have been forced to cut staff so that they can keep the doors open. However, two business owners decided to come together and save each other’s businesses.
Wade Griffith is the co-owner of two businesses, which are the Chatman Street Diner and The Patio Lounge. He decided to merge his businesses with the Primary Social Club, which is owned by Christian Pinard. The two business owners also purchased a downtown bar named the Dugout.
Wade began talking to Christian at the beginning of the pandemic about what they can do to stay in business. They came up with a business model that worked for them. They decided that the best thing for them to do would be to merge the two businesses.
Jobs Saved
Not only were the two business owners able to save their businesses, but they were also able to hire people. A total of 78 people work at the businesses. Unfortunately, province restrictions had an adverse effect on the staffing. Indoor dining is not currently allowed in the province.
The Primary Social Club is completely closed due to province restrictions. Christian and Wade have been feeling the impact of the shutdown. He stated that even though they are closed, the bills still have to be paid.
Christian and Wade have used their personal finances to keep the business afloat. They have also applied for assistance from the government. They managed to get loans, but it is not free money. They will have to pay the money back. Christian and Wade are struggling and tempted to throw in the towel, but they will do everything that they can to stay open.
Sixteen Percent of Business Going to Close for Good
It is estimated that 16 percent of businesses have shut their doors for good due to the pandemic. Christian and Wade have both seen their friends’ businesses close. They are doing everything that they can to stop other businesses from suffering the same fate.
