Dr. David is a specialist in Head of cardiovascular surgery at University Health Network, the largest healthcare network in Canada. He has been with UHN for over 20 years and is one of its most distinguished surgeons. Dr. David was born and raised in Toronto and earned his MD from the University of Toronto Medical School before completing his residency training there.
He is also an Assistant Professor at the University’s Faculty of Medicine, teaching postgraduate surgical residents vascular reconstruction techniques. Dr. David has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and textbooks on various surgical topics, including peripheral vascular disease, carotid artery disease, stroke prevention procedures such as carotid endarterectomy (CEA), carotid stenting, cardiac surgery, and minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. David is one of Canada’s top vascular surgeons. He specializes in approximately 80 complex cases every year, of which approximately 75% are CEOs or carotid stenting procedures. Dr. David performs both open surgery and minimally invasive intra-operative techniques to treat carotid artery disease.
He is an internationally renowned vasculopathologist who has lectured and presented his research on peripheral and cerebral vascular diseases at international meetings worldwide. He was invited to present his research findings on endovascular treatments for the cerebrovascular disease at conferences sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) held in Europe and North America. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer on numerous occasions for NIH national symposiums held at UHN’s Toronto Western campus.
He has also been a guest lecturer on carotid artery disease and minimally invasive techniques for physicians at national and international conferences in the United States, Hungary, Italy, Israel, and Scandinavia. Dr. David is a reviewer for many scientific journals, including the “Journal of Vascular Surgery,” one of the most prestigious vascular surgery journals globally. He actively maintains relationships with other international vascular surgeons as well as cardiologists to ensure that his patients receive exceptional care from highly trained individuals who specialize in areas such as vascular surgery and interventional neuroradiology throughout their stay at University Health Network.
Dr. David has been the principal surgeon in numerous research projects and publications on carotid artery disease and minimally invasive surgical techniques for cerebral vascular disease. He is also a member of several prestigious groups, including:
