Covid 19 Cases on the Rise in Canada
Canada recently reported that there were 2,176 new Covid 19 infections. There are now 157,000 confirmed cases of Covid 19. There were also 10 new deaths reported, which brings the total number of deaths in the country to 9,278. Dominic Leblanc stated that he is concerned about the surge in Covid 19 cases.
What the Provinces Are Doing to Prevent the Spread
Ontario, which is the province with the highest population, stated that they would be limiting visitors to long-term care facilities. Most of the deaths in the country have occurred in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Quebec is the province with the second-highest population. The province stated that they were going to close bars and restaurants in hot spots for 28 days.
Quebec also stated that financial assistance would be offered to businesses that were forced to close due to Covid 19. Francois Legault is the premier of Quebec. He stated that the Covid 19 situation in this country is still critical.
What Justin Trudeau Is Doing to Help
Justin Trudeau, who is the prime minister of Canada, stated that the government would be donating $440 million to make sure that everyone could get a vaccine when one is available. The federal government also approved $7.9 million to be donated to increase rapid testing. They are just waiting for the final approval from Health Canada.
