Different health issues affect women of all ages. One of these conditions is vulvar and vaginal atrophy which is associated with menopause. Knight Therapeutics offers estradiol virginal inserts for postmenopausal women dealing with vulvar and vaginal atrophy. 50% of all menopausal women are likely to develop VVA, that is because, after menopause, the body produces smaller amounts of estrogen which makes the vaginal area, dry, less flexible, and brittle.
Vulvar and vaginal atrophy symptoms include vaginal discomfort, dryness, pain in both the vulva and vaginal areas. Other symptoms are vaginal discharges, itching, and a burning sensation. Many postmenopausal women also experience pain during sexual intercourse.
It is essential to note the psychological effects in such situations and using vaginal inserts like those offered by Knight Therapeutics results in better sexual and mental health.
Imvexxy Vaginal Inserts
Knight Therapeutics entered into a partnership with Therapeutics MD to distribute Imvexxy a drug meant to treat Dyspareunia which is associated with vulvar and vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women. The drug is an estradiol vaginal insert that offers 4mcg and 10mcg of estradiol in each insert. The 4mcg dosage makes Imvexxy an ultra-low dose estrogen therapy. The drug is endorsed by Health Canada to help relieve severe and moderate pain during sexual activity for postmenopausal women.
Imvexxy is a bio-identical estrogen therapy meaning that it contains estrogen that is similar to what the human body produces. Bio-identical hormones have a similar molecular structure as that of the naturally occurring hormones, which means it has higher effectiveness. Although the risk associated with using synthetic hormones is unknown, bio-identical hormones are always a better choice for women looking for effective estrogen therapy.
How it Works
Studies conducted on the drug show that women start to experience pain relief as early as two weeks after commencing the treatment. They also showed that after 12 weeks, all women could comfortably engage in sexual activity. The drug works by restoring pH levels and enhancing vaginal tissues for better vaginal health. That also reduces the woman’s susceptibility to infections.
Women who wish to use the Imvexxy should ensure that they speak to their physicians first before beginning the treatment. It is critical to note that although the drug studies lasted 12weeks, a doctor may recommend that patients continue using the drug for a more extended period. That will ensure healthy hormone levels and vaginal discharge.
How to Use Imvexxy Virginal Inserts
This applicator-free vaginal insert is easy to use, and over 80% of women using it find it easy to insert. One should insert it into the vagina just like a tampon after which they can go back to their daily activities. Imvexxy does not require any downtime, which is a significant advantage over similar hormone treatments. To begin with, one should use a single insert per day for fourteen days to raise their estrogen level and switch to one every three or four days to maintain estrogen levels. Women should begin to see a change within 2 to 12 weeks.
