In 2018 Canada Became The Second Country On The Planet To Legalize Marijuana
During the 20th century, marijuana use in Canada was as common as its use in the United States. In 1925, using marijuana became a criminal offense, and it stayed that way until medical marijuana use became legal in July 2001. Between 1946 and 1961, marijuana accounted for two percent of all Canadian drug arrests.
But on November 27, 2017, the Canadian House of Commons passed the Cannabis Act. And the second reading on March 18, 2018, by the Canadian Senate, opened the door for the recreational use of marijuana.
On June 18, 2018, the House passed the Senate’s version of the Cannabis Act with most of the Senate’s changes. Even though some of the amendments the Senate made didn’t fly in the House of Commons, the Senate gave it’s okay the next day. That made Canada the second country in the world to legalize pot. Uruguay was the first country to allow its citizens to get high without the fear of going to jail.
By January 2019, pot was available online throughout Canada through provincial governments. Provincial governments also had storefront operations by then. And private companies jumped on the legal marijuana selling train as well that year. But there was a limited number of retailers in Canada due to the lack of licensed growers in the country. In other words, the demand exceeded the supply until SpeakEasy Cannabis Club Ltd. made the announcement that its 2020 harvest of pot is a soon-to-be history-making crop. SpeakEasy claims this year’s harvest will be one of the largest outdoor cannabis crops to date.
Speakeasy Holds A Federal License To Plant, Cultivate, Process, And Sell Pot Under The 2018 Cannabis Act
SpeakEasy Cannabis Club Ltd. owns more than 289 acres in Rock Creek B.C. The company cultivates high-quality, but small batches of marijuana in its 10,000 square foot indoor growing facility, and this year the company planted 60 acres of marijuana plants in its outdoor growing arena. If the company gets an amendment to its current license from the government, so it can add another 53,000 square feet to its indoor cultivation and processing facility, SpeakEasy’s yearly pot production could exceed 175,000 pounds per year.
According to SpeakEasy Founder Marc Geen, summer 2020 in British Columbia delivered plenty of hot dry days and an abundant amount of sunshine. The SpeakEasy Rock Creek location produced healthy green pot plants thanks to a perfect climate and the use of genetic growing techniques. Geen claims his company expects to start harvesting his exceptionally large and healthy crop at the end of September. Mr. Geen said this year’s harvest will go down as one of the largest Canadian harvests on record.
The Canadian marijuana market is in a constant state of change, according to Geen. Pot consumers tend to be more discerning these days, so the company’s outdoor crop provides the quality and the price consumers look for in today’s market. Geen believes his company can enter any segment of the pot market in Canada thanks to his knowledgeable growers and the genetics the company uses to produce marijuana that appeals to Canada’s picky buyers.
Canadian Buyers Want Quality, Consistency, And Unique Flower Strains According To Geen
There’s little doubt. Canada’s marijuana industry continues to mature. That’s why SpeakEasy employs growers who have successful growing track records, and why the company has a large library of genetics at its disposal. Plus, the company builds facilities that meet experienced growers’ expectations. SpeakEasy’s outdoor growing operation focuses on the needs of today’s finicky consumers, and this year’s crop won’t disappoint them, according to Marc.
SpeakEasy has the infrastructure, expertise, money, and genetics as well as the climate to grow, process, and sell marijuana to several segments of the pot market. The company has what it takes to give consumers the product they want at a price they can afford, and that’s why Geen claims his company is on the road to pot-growing stardom.
